The Estates & Trusts team at DJM was originally established in 1946 and has a wealth of experience in providing legal advice to individuals and business owners on all matters concerning their personal and business affairs.
The team is headed by Jonathan Powell, a Director of DJM, and is dedicated to offering a friendly and efficient service in a cost-effective manner. The team specialise purely in estates and trust services, which provides the opportunity to give bespoke advice and solutions to suit the needs of each client.
We pride ourselves on offering such effective tailored solutions that meet each client's needs at any given moment. Our array of services offered range from a simple Will, to complex tax planning, and assisting clients when they have lost a loved one or caring for a person with capacity issues through ill health. Year joined DJM: June 2008
Qualifications: Rebecca read Law at University of Wales, Cardiff and graduated with 2:1 LLB Honours Degree in 2000. She continued her studies at Cardiff Law School on the Legal Practice Course and completed the course with Commendation in 2001.
Rebecca was appointed an Associate Director in January 2017.
Specialist Area: Prior to joining DJM, Rebecca trained and qualified with a large firm in Cardiff and specialised in civil litigation. Rebecca returned to work in her home town of Swansea in 2008 to join the DJM, Estates & Trusts team.
Rebecca now an Associate, specialises in all aspects of Private Client work, including the drafting of Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection Applications. Rebecca also specialises in the administration of Estates including those of high net worth clients.
Rebecca prides herself on being professional whilst advising clients yet also compassionate and sympathetic to their needs and situation, putting them at their ease at, quite often, very difficult times. Rebecca represents a significant number of clients through acting as their Power of Attorney or Deputy, which includes maintaining their financial affairs with IFAs and representing clients at MDT meetings involving social services and LHBs.

Interests: Outside DJM Rebecca is passionate about music and sport. As a classically trained singer Rebecca regularly sings as a soloist in charitable events. She is also a firm fan of the Ospreys and Swans. Rebecca thrives on being involved in Charitable work and has trekked the great wall of China for Marie Curie Cancer Care and run the Cardiff Half Marathon for the James Whale Fund.

Qualifications: Jonathan graduated with a LL.B (Hons) degree from Cardiff University in 2000
Specialist Area: Noted in the Legal 500, Jonathan qualified with the practice in 2003, becoming Director in 2010 after heading up the department for a number of years. Jonathan has spent the entirety of his career specialising in private client work and presently acts for a base of clients ranging from high net worth commercial clients to the very elderly. Jonathan also works with numerous accountants, financial advisors, company directors and property developers in providing complex trust and taxation advice.
Interests: Outside DJM, Jonathan has a keen interest in golf and enjoys travelling. Jonathan also has an interest in cars and supporting our local rugby union team; the Neath Swansea Ospreys.
