Douglas-Jones Mercer advises the shareholders of Cambrian Pet Food Limited on sale to United Petfood

Douglas-Jones Mercer are pleased to have supported the sale by the shareholders of Cambrian Management Company Limited to United Petfood. United Petfood is a leading international producer of dry and wet pet food, biscuits and snacks for private label customers and brand owners, based in Belgium. United is backed by the Netherlands-based Private Equity house, Waterland. United Petfood Group operates out of 17 pet food facilities situated in 8 different European countries.

The Davies family founded Cambrian in 1982 and since then Cambrian has become a leading manufacturer of both dry and wet pet food. Cambrian employs over 130 people across 3 state-of-the-art production plants in the UK.

Douglas-Jones Mercer’s team advising on the transaction included Sheraz Akram, Michael Price, Aaron Hayward, Chloe Williams, Georgia Power, Paul Shuttleworth and Matthew Nester.

Richard Davies, Jonathan Davies and David Davies, Directors at Cambrian stated:

Like most owner-managers sell their business only once — in what can be an emotionally-charged atmosphere with a multitude of pressures coming from different directions. The fact that the decision was so important, both financially and personally, to us as owners can make the process more, rather than less, prone to error. And, mistakes made in the once-in-a-lifetime sale of a business are not reversible.  So this is why we chose Sheraz and the team at DJM, we’ve worked and trusted them completely over a number of years , we can truly say that we could not have wished for better, more diligent legal M&A representation and support.”
